Performs a variety of patient care activities appropriate to the patient population to contribute to healthcare by preparing patients for visits and enhancing patient flow in accordance with established department policies, standards, procedures and compliance with regulations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include, but not limited to the following)
- As directed and supervised by healthcare professional, collects and documents a variety of routine patient data as part of check in procedures and/or Triage procedure including, but not limited to: height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and glucose screen.
- Performs lab draws and basic tests; seals and packages for processing by laboratory and Point of Care testing.
- Identifies and reports unusual findings or observations, clinical symptoms, behaviors and treatment reactions to appropriate healthcare professional.
- Under general supervision of the RN, performs assigned procedures including, but not limited to: electrocardiogram testing (EKG), wound cleansing, initial, repeat and orthostatic vital sign measurements, application of monitor leads, specimen collection.
- Actively participates/assists during urgent care situations as directed; initiates and administers CPR as appropriate.
- Prepares exam room for procedures, organizes instruments and equipment; assists healthcare provider during minor procedures.
- Cleans and sanitizes exam room and fixtures by removing soiled materials/instruments, replacing exam paper sheets and wiping counter areas to provide for efficient room turns.
- Performs visual inventory of stock and laboratory items; re-orders items to provide for availability of supplies for optimum efficient clinic operations
- Participates in and completes a Hospital competency program in Saline lock insertion, IV discontinuation and Foley insertion for adult and pediatric patients twelve years of age and older
- Perform other duties as assigned
