ER Coordinator’s at Guardian Veterinary connect the front and back of the house. They are the welcoming face for all the ER clients from presentation to admission to discharge. They ER coordinator will be imperative to Guardian Veterinary by being active on the floor to be constant contact with the back of the house and they will help-out the front desk as needed.

Guardian Veterinary is looking for someone that emits positive energy, conveys clear and concise messages in a friendly way, can think on one’s feet, embodies the ability to be a calming force in a chaotic time, aptitude to follow the ebb and flow of the day and change course as necessary, while staying within the guidelines and demonstrates exceptional judgement.

**Must have their own reliable transportation**

** Must have a High School Diploma with 2 years’ experience working in a veterinary hospital/veterinary clinic**

**Location is in Brewster, NY**

**Hourly Pay: $22.00 per hour. **Compensation to commensurate with experience

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome ER patients as soon as they arrive, introduce yourself as the point of contact during their visit and immediately reach out to the rDVM for records on the patient.
  • Work with the ER doctor and the technician to determine the best course of action for the patient and then present the estimate to the client for either immediate treatment or admission.
  • Walk the client through the signing estimate, process to leave a deposit and verify contact information. Help the client apply for financial assistance if needed.
  • Advise the ER doctor if the patient has been admitted or treatment approved, or if the client denied it.
  • Work on a new estimate with the doctor if the client cannot afford the treatment.
  • Once admitted ensure that the patient has a name collar on, has emergency drug sheet, and cage is labeled.
  • If the wait is long, communicate to the clients as to how their pets are doing and where we are in the process.
  • After discharge ensure that the records have been sent to the rDVM.
  • Follow up on any outstanding diagnostics, ensure clients receive calls with results and that the results are then made available to the rDVM.
  • Work with the patient advocates to ensure that every client seen the day prior and discharged from ER gets a follow up call to answer questions and check how they are doing.
  • Update rDVM when their patient has been admitted to hospital.
  • Field all phone calls for questions on ER patients. Coordinate answers or a phone call back to the client from the doctor or technician.
  • Ensure discharges and meds are ready for patients going home and ready for the technician to discharge.
  • Ensure ER clients have been properly checked out and the bill is paid.
  • Check work emails twice per day regardless of schedule to ensure each employee is up to date with the hospital’s day to day operations.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
