Summary
The Community Health Services (CHS) division of Public Health- Seattle & King County (PHSKC) seeks an Epic Report Writer (Functional Analyst III) to serve as the lead writer for Epic reports that are used by providers and clinic managers within the CHS Epic Reporting Workspace. This position is a member of the CHS Data Team and supports our efforts to increase understanding of available EHR reporting tools to enhance operational efficiencies and improve patient care. The Functional Analyst III position will also support priority projects, including the collection of patient satisfaction data, and program specific reporting and evaluation needs utilizing tools like REDCap, Tableau and Apricot software.
This Term Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Assignment (SDA) is anticipated to last through December 31, 2024. However, the end date of this position may be adjusted based on funding and program need.

Job Duties
  1. Collaborate with end-users, analysts, and other stakeholders to gather and understand reporting requirements.
  2. Design and develop custom reports and dashboards using Epic Clarity tools and technologies.
  3. Perform data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and insights that can impact data quality.
  4. Optimize report performance by fine-tuning queries and utilizing best practices.
  5. Maintain report inventories and stay-up-to date with Epic updates, including population management tools
  6. Collaborate with CHS Data Team members to ensure alignment with front and back-end reporting and analytic needs.
  7. Serve as the technical lead for the collection and analysis of patient satisfaction surveys across clinics.
  8. Provide overall technical support to CHS programs that utilize data collection systems outside of our electronic health record system, including REDCap.
  9. Liaison with the Health Information Technology (HIT) and King County Information Technology (KCIT) teams as needed to ensure report accuracy.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
  • Previous experience as an electronic health record Report Writer or similar role in healthcare setting.
  • Previous experience in leading complex analysis and infrastructure improvement projects that require advanced technical competencies in SQL or other relational database
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and produce quality detailed work within tight timeframes.
  • Skill in:
    1. Using report and query writing languages such as advanced T-SQL and writing complex system documentation and technical reports such as the production of Tableau, Power BI, and SSRS reports.
    2. Researching and making recommendations, conclusions and decisions.
    3. Interpreting complex instructional manuals, guidelines, and procedures.
    4. Applying project management principles and practices.
    5. Working effectively and cooperatively with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to apply principles of Equity and Social Justice in program operations and services.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Epic Clarity Certification, including previous experience with Business Objects
  • Experience in cloud- based analytics platforms, including Azure SQL
  • Proficiency in additional open-source languages such as R or Python

Necessary Special Requirements

Work location: The work for this position will be performed by a combination of telework and onsite work. The position will work onsite 1 day per week either in the office or at a Public Health Center. The base for this position is the Chinook Building, located at 401 5th Ave, Seattle, WA, 98104. A County vehicle will be available for use when driving from the Chinook Building to a Public Health Center.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.

Work schedule: The normal work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm - 40 hours per week. This position is not subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible.
