Description
The EOF Counselor is responsible for the recruitment, career exploration, organization enrollment, promotion, and referral of economically and educationally disadvantaged students. The EOF Counselor will also serves as an advisor to a caseload of EOF students throughout the academic year and coordinates the annual Summer Institute program.
Examples of Duties
- Maintains a database of all prospective, accepted, and ineligible EOF students.
- Assists with the overall recruitment process that includes but is not limited to: acceptance/denial letters, preliminary acceptance letters, and frequent communication with students and parents to actively complete EOF files.
- Responsible for the advisement and counseling of eligible EOF students assigned and maintains a database of each student interaction.
- Attends state conferences and various professional development initiatives annually.
- Responsible for annual special projects, as assigned, that align with the program's goals and objectives.
- Coordinates the annual Summer Institute program under the direction of the Assistant Director.
- Develops and implements procedures and tools to assist students through topics including, but not limited to: career exploration, interviewing, resume and cover letter writing, finding employment and internship opportunities, and other career-specific goals.
- Reviews EOF regulations annually and attends webinars/seminars pertaining to EOF eligibility updates.
- Responsible for recommending new students for funding and summer institute.
- Maintains an on-going rapport with EOF summer institute students and caseload.
- Plans and maintains an on-going recruitment schedule designed to inform, attract, and recruit new economically disadvantaged students in the community and on campus; including but not limited to: RCSJ Recruitment Initiatives, Open House, community events and on-site high school visitations/registration activities.
- Analyzes all recruitment efforts, revises existing strategies annually, and makes recommendations for future strategies.
- Maintains communication and collaborates with various Student Services departments, Athletics, University Center, and other college departments to recruit potential EOF students.
- Assists with the development of new EOF initiatives.
- Responsible for assisting perspective students in acquiring needed verification of financial eligibility for EOF.
- Responsible for assisting EOF students with advisement, registration, and the applying for financial aid/EOF.
- Collaborates with the financial aid department to complete student files.
- Assists with the EOF annual report, summer institute, and EOF group meetings.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, Higher ed, or related field required.
- Experience in student advisement, registration, and knowledge of Financial aid in a Community College setting.
- Knowledge of the mission and intent of the EOF program.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access required.
- Ability to conduct small and large group meetings and workshops
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours to meet department and College needs
- Possesses the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners
- Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment

Group Life Insurance:
Life Insurance is underwritten by the Prudential Insurance Company of America, Inc., and is provided as a result of pension membership. There is no cost to the member for this coverage. The State Treasurer is the official policyholder for all the Noncontributory Group Life Insurance, which is issued as Policy Number G-14800.
Flexible Spending Accounts:
The flexible spending program allows you to deduct pre-tax dollars which can be used for co-pays, deductibles, dental, vision, and dependent day care. The medical limit is $2,650 per year, and the dependent care limit is $5,000 per year.
Tuition Reimbursement/Waiver- RCSJ offers tuition reimbursement for up to 12 credits per fiscal year. The College also offer a tuition waiver for RCSJ courses for employees and eligible dependents.
