Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. is recruiting for an Environmental Scientist-Analytical Validator, in Las Vegas, NV.

The Environmental Scientist - Analytical Validator I perform activities and tasks in support of characterization and environmental restoration of hazardous and radioactive waste sites.
General Responsibilities and Knowledge Skills:

  • Under general supervision, the Analytical Validator I has the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks.
  • Ability to organize own work independently to meet established objectives, using discretion in performing duties.
  • Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential function.
  • Ensures documents are clear, concise, and conform to regulatory and technical requirements.
  • Must be able to contribute to a positive work environment and participate in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to document and record work activities as appropriate.
  • Works to assigned procedures.

Specific Responsibilities and Knowledge/Skills:
  • The Analytical Validator I is the secondary contact for laboratory support on general chemical and radiochemical analyses.
  • Contact for project support on laboratory analysis, analytical data in the AS database, and data validation.
  • Upload analytical laboratory electronic data deliverables "EDDs" into database and ensure completeness and accuracy of analytical sample results.
  • Perform Tier I Data Validation
  • Perform Tier II validation qualification entry into AS Database
  • Review and perform quality checks on laboratory logins.
  • Perform project sample data entry.
  • Perform Tier III validation preparation and shipments.
  • Maintain/submit data packages into long-term storage as records.
  • Track sample shipments and analytical data package deliverable schedules.
  • Perform laboratory and validation subcontract invoice reviews and verifications.
  • Assist Tier II Data Validators with verification and validation of chemical and radiochemical data.
  • Provide assistance for bottle orders, sample shipping issues and processes, and other miscellaneous matters.
  • Assist Analytical Services department members as required.
  • Maintain safety awareness and a record of a safe work environment.
  • Familiar with environmental field concepts, practices, and procedures.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or technical discipline and 0 - 5 years of experience in the environmental industry.
  • Fundamental knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, and science.
  • Reading, writing, and comprehension.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and fundamental computer skills.

Working Conditions:
  • When working at the DOE Facility, Molasky Building work is primarily office support, work performed at the NNSS the work is primarily field related where physical effort may be required, up to and not limited to lifting, bending, reaching, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment and to work in remote, desert environments.
