We are seeking an Environmental Scientist in our Columbia, SC office to support environmental projects in the Southeast. This candidate will support the various service lines to assist in acquiring USACE 404 permits, federal and state navigational permits, stream assessments, water quality analysis, and threatened and endangered species surveys on multiple projects within CDM Smith's portfolio.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
50% Field/50% Office
Expertise in Wetland Delineation, USACE 404 and 401 Permitting, Threatened and Endangered Species habitat, and species surveys.
Assist Environmental Planners with NEPA and federal requirements for the natural environment.
Preferred Skills:
10+ years of environmental regulatory experience managing and implementing environmental programs
Undergraduate degree in an environmental science or related field (min B.S., Master's is a plus)
Understanding of NEPA, federal, and state regulations (SC, GA, FL, TN)
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong public speaking skills
Environmental experience in policies and procedures, regulatory affairs, permitting, due diligence, and auditing
Strong training and management expertise
Competent in GIS (ESRI platform)
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Act as a technical expert
Ability to interact effectively with consultants and governmental agencies
Ability to work independently and with teams
Solve technical problems and develop solutions to meet environmental requirements.
