Job description

Tectonic is currently seeking a full-time Environmental Project Monitor to work on various field projects based out of our Mountainside, NJ Office. This is a great opportunity for continued professional growth and development in the A/E/C industry and to work with senior licensed professionals and a supportive team!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions of the Environmental Project Monitor position require traveling to project sites to serve as the on-site representative to oversee asbestos, lead, mold, and other work to ensure that work is performed in accordance with specifications and in compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws. In addition, the Project Monitor will perform air monitoring in accordance with all applicable regulations, which includes performing sampling with pumps and cartridges, collecting air and other samples during abatement projects, preparing and maintaining chain of custody data; delivering air samples to the laboratory, and performing aggressive air monitoring when necessary. Monitor will be required to perform ad-hoc surveys, plus AHERA re-inspections and periodic surveillances. In addition, the Environmental Project Monitor must maintain project logs and reports, take photographs as needed, record applicable data, and communicate with project managers, contractors, and/or client representatives, as well as all related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Project Monitor and Air Sampling/Safety Technician Certifications; Lead Inspector certification is preferred;
  • 2 years of related experience performing Project Monitoring and/or air sampling on abatement projects;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or a related field is a plus; HS Diploma/Equivalent required;
  • Ability to complete OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health Training within a reasonable period of time; Possession of 40 hour OSHA Hazwoper is preferred;
  • Ability to effective utilize assigned Personal Protective Equipment and use Respiratory Protective Equipment;
  • Functional computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, as well as ability to utilize various software programs, time reporting systems, and other related computer applications;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for regular travel to project sites.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to move around the job site and inspect, observe, move, operate, and/or transport documents, materials and/or field testing equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. Such operable equipment may include, but is not limited to, peristaltic sampling pumps, photoionization detectors, battery packs, and augering instruments. The employee is also regularly required to traverse the job-site while recording information and must frequently position themselves appropriately to gain access to necessary testing materials and equipment and to perform tests near wells and on the ground. The employee must sometimes lift and/or move up to 27 lbs. The employee is regularly working in outdoor weather conditions, including exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, biological hazards conditions and sometimes working in the office environment. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients both orally and in writing through Corporate communication systems. The employee must also occasionally operate a computer and other related office machinery, such as printers, and fax machines. This position also requires the frequent operation of a motor-vehicle, which sometimes may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. PAY RANGE
Tectonic’s goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitable across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate’s work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
Pay Range: $23.00 - $28.00 / hour
