Job Description

Work Where You Matter:

As Environmental Planner, you will play a vital role in our team, providing support at the entry to intermediate-level with a focus on Environmental Assessments (EAs), Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), wetland delineations, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), public and agency engagement coordination, and other related studies. You will also contribute to various moderately complex environmental projects, embracing a diverse range of tasks such as research, fieldwork, organizing public meetings, developing meeting presentation materials, and planning, and agency coordination.

As part of our collaborative and dynamic team, we encourage you to bring your strong work ethic, a desire to learn new concepts, and excellent organizational and communication skills to the table. Working under the guidance of the Department Manager and NEPA Leads, you will find ample opportunities to grow and develop in your role. We value teamwork, constructive feedback, and the initiative to seek guidance from experienced team members when needed.

While client communications may be infrequent, your role will be integral to our overall success. Join our team to make a positive impact in the areas of transportation, aviation, rural energy, water/wastewater, site development, and utilities. If you're someone who enjoys meaningful work and wants to work where you matter, we look forward to welcoming you to our team.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Completion of basic NEPA training
  • 2-4 years of professional office experience
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft computer and software, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), ArcGIS, and Adobe PDF
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Professional demeanor and appearance

Responsibilities:

You will spend approximately 90% of your time in our professional and welcoming office environment, contributing to projects that make a positive impact. About 10% of your role will involve hands-on fieldwork, mainly during the summer months. Your flexibility and willingness to travel to support our field crews are the key to making a difference.

You will be involved with various other tasks, including providing public and agency coordination and developing of presentation materials in ArcGIS and MS PowerPoint. Think of yourself as a behind-the-scenes coordinator of community engagement-organizing, promoting, and documenting public meetings. You'll also collaborate with Environmental Leads, assisting in permit applications and contributing to NEPA documents.

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for a team player who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate will be outstanding at multi-tasking and bring a self-motivated spirit that actively seeks out tasks to boost your workflow.

Culture:
  • A place where work is fun and flexibility is paramount
  • A family-friendly setting that values your well-being
  • A culture defined by responsibility, engagement, and exceeding expectations
