Job description

JOB SUMMARY: Partners closely with Operations team to manage the environmental, Health and Safety program. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, or local statues or regulations including OSHA. Has a comprehensive knowledge of the Health and Safety concepts and principles.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure that they follow safety standards and government regulations.

2. Manage programs meant to protect employee Health and Safety or promote environmental compliance.

3. Evaluate, assess, and alter safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees and customers.

4. Audit facilities or processes to identify risks and proactively develops and implements corrective actions.

5. Deliver and track participation in safety training programs educating employees on safe working practices, appropriate equipment operation, and emergency procedures.

6. Perform various environmental reporting, tracking, and inspections.

7. Maintain various waste management programs for facilities.

8. Investigate incidents or accidents, gather, and analyze statistics, and make recommendations forimprovements; ensure appropriate investigation of and response to accidents or injuries.

9. Prepare and submit accident reports / other reports in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

10. Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, MSHA, etc.).

11. Perform related duties as assigned.

12. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

13. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings, workshops, etc.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety Management preferred.

2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Safety Management in a Manufacturing industry preferred but not required.

3. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.

4. Performs work under minimal supervision.

5. Ability to work as part of a team.

6. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

7. Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.

8. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

9. Some travel required (25%).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to perform the essential job duties safely and successfully with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

2. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

3. Ability to work safely and adhere to the Swanson Safety System in daily job duties.
