WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
REPORTS TO: VOC Team Lead

Position Overview: The VOC Analyst plays a critical role in environmental analysis, focusing on the preparation and analysis of samples for the detection and quantification of volatile organic compounds in various matrices.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct accurate preparation and concentration of environmental samples, such as soil and water, for VOC analysis.
  • Strictly adhere to published methodologies and established laboratory procedures for VOC analysis.
  • Use techniques such as Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and related analytical methods.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all preparatory and analytical procedures in accordance with standard requirements.
  • Work within established quality control parameters and consistently meet specified turnaround times for sample analysis.
  • Assist in the calibration and maintenance of analytical instrumentation specific to VOC analysis.
  • Uphold safe laboratory practices, ensuring a clean and orderly work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline. Relevant laboratory experience in VOC analysis is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify discrepancies, and suggest corrective actions.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software and familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods during sample preparation and analysis.
  • Manual dexterity for precise handling of samples and laboratory instruments.
  • Visual acuity for detailed analytical tasks.
  • Clear speech and hearing for effective communication within the laboratory environment.
Additional Considerations:
  • Candidates are required to undergo training in specific SOPs related to VOC analysis.
  • A strong commitment to safety protocols is essential.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying workloads and project requirements.
