Entry Level Truss Designer

The Truss Company has an opportunity for the right person to learn how to design roof and floor trusses. No truss experience necessary, but an understanding of basic construction is helpful or CAD experience . Job Duties

• Create truss designs for fabrication based on information gathered from customers and project documents.
• Review and optimize designs for most efficient use of materials, equipment, and manpower.
• Ability to read and understand truss layouts to verify truss profiles and review truss to truss loading.
• Self-check design work prior to submitting for a final check. Finished work should be fully detailed, labeled and dimensioned for production and installation purposes.
• Maintain job related files, including project status.
• Performs other job-related duties or special projects as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word and Outlook
• Strong math skills with a solid understanding of geometry/trigonometry
• Ability to use other software applications related to truss design
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• General construction industry knowledge, basic CAD and drafting knowledge, desired
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and architectural drawings, desired
• Able to work overtime as needed during busy season

The expected pay range is $22 - 23 per hour, based on the candidate’s equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.
