Job Title: Entry Level Laboratory Science Professional

Job Summary:
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has an opening for an Entry Level Laboratory Science Professionals in the Division of Reproductive Sciences to perform experiments in the field of ovarian cancer, including cell culture, basic molecular biology techniques, and in vivo mouse models of ovarian cancer. Please note that this position requires flexible work hours, including some weekends and occasional overnight times, as required for completion of study aims.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Tissue culture including primary adipocyte culture and ovarian cancer cell lines, as well as experiments such as migration assays, drug screening, PCR, flow cytometry, library preparation for RNA-Seq, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Responsible for maintaining cell lines in culture and setting up and performing experiments.
  • Directly involved in in vivo mouse models of ovarian cancer, including tumor cell injections, tumor monitoring, specimen collection, and tissue processing.
  • Interaction with Anschutz Medical Campus core facilities to have additional assays performed.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • Experience of some or all of the following computer software: Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, Evernote, LabArchives, and Adobe Suite. Applicants with knowledge of digital pathology and image analysis platforms
  • Experience in, including DNA/RNA/protein isolation, quantitative PCR, Western blotting, and fluorescent microscopy. Prior experience with cell migration assays, live cell imaging such as IncuCyte, and RNAseq library preparation are a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $42,088-$53,536
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
