Description

This position provides on the job support for consumers enrolled in the MCFI Employment Programs ensuring opportunities for career exploration, interest identification and success within the workforce. The Employment Support Team member is responsible for promoting public awareness and the value of employment for persons with disabilities through education and service delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides on the job training and coaching to clients in Employment Service programming to enhance or develop specific work skills and behaviors needed to sustain a community based positon of the person's choice. (Programs include Supported Employment, Access Work and Forward Academy)
  • Provides education and support to the employer and coworkers as needed.
  • Introduces strategies and accommodations to increase employee's efficiency, effectiveness and level of independence in the workplace.
  • Implements fading plans designed by the SEP case manager and assists in developing natural supports within the workplace.
  • Interfaces with the employers and primary case manager to provide information, elicit feedback and maintain consistent and accurate communication.
  • Clearly articulates progress, strategies, accommodations, and support needs as well as the consumer response and outcome in daily documentation.
  • Provides support and training with soft skills such as peer and supervisor interactions, conflict resolution and utilizing coping strategies on the job.
  • Completes quality paperwork in a timely manner to uphold the integrity of the consumer's record and meet contractual requirements as it relates to documentation.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings both internal and external as assigned.
  • Practice and promote safety in the workplace; reports all accidents according to Agency procedures.
Qualifications

Required Technical Skills, Experience, Education, and Credentials:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   1. Must hold a high school diploma or GED. Some college, advanced training or prior experience working with persons' with disabilities or a barrier to work is preferred.
  2. Strong communication skills, comfort with networking and ability to forge partnerships (relationships) with both clients and community entities.
  3. Strong writing skills and the ability to complete documentation in a timely manner.
  4. Ability to interpret observational data and draw objective and impartial conclusions.
  5. Ability to implement creative job modifications, strategies or accommodations needed to increase independent performance.
  6. Ability to successfully work with clients who exhibit behavioral challenges.
  7. Fundamental knowledge of behavior modification principles.
  8. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification. Must obtain within 120 days of hire.
  9. Understanding of local business and industry, the job market and specific demands of positions.
  10. Basic understanding of physical and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities and potential work related barriers.
  11. Knowledge of a variety of disabling conditions and helpful accommodations, strategies and assistive technology that will assist the individual on the job
  12. Must either be First Aid certified at the start of employment or complete First Aid certification within one 120 days of the start of employment. Must maintain active First Aid certification through periodic renewal as dictated by the certification
  13. Current Wisconsin Driver License, without limitations that are incompatible with duties & responsibilities, and automobile insurance with minimum limits of $50,000/$100,000 bodily injury and $10,000 property damage
  14. Access to a personal vehicle is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee may experience or must do to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

  1. On occasion must be able to move, transport, position, push/pull and/ or lift objects and/or equipment weighting at least up to 20 pounds a distance of 450 feet.
  2. Standing and walking on a frequent basis.
  3. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, kitchen equipment, etc.
  4. Exposure to chemicals and strong food odors.
  5. This position may work in a variety of indoor and outdoor work environments which may include, various outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, and fluctuating temperatures.
