Entry to Mid Level Equipment Tech
Responsibilities:
Voltage Testing:
- Assist in conducting high, medium, and low voltage testing on electrical power equipment.
- Learn and apply testing procedures under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
- Develop skills in determining optimum equipment functioning through on-the-job training.
- Prepare and maintain reports documenting all tests, repairs, and maintenance activities performed.
- Contribute to accurate record-keeping for future reference and analysis.
- Assist in troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and cleaning equipment and components within a substation.
- Learn preventive maintenance tasks and gain hands-on experience in equipment upkeep.
- Associates Degree or Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronic technology, or Military experience.
- Highly motivated self-starter with desire to learn
- NETA certified a plus, but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelors or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic technology, or Military experience preferred but not required.
- 2+ years of hands on experience High, Medium and Low voltage testing of electrical power equipment.
Knowledge of the following equipment:
- Circuit Breakers, LV/MV/HV
- Transformers
- Switchgear
- Motors/Motor Controls
- PT's
- CCVT's
- Power Factor Testing
- Ductor
- Megger/Insulation Resistance Testing
- CT ration & saturation
- Hi-Pot Cable Testing
Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.- Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
- Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70 lbs.
- Must have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
