JOB PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION:  The position will provide capacity planning support for Caterpillar facilities worldwide.  Primary responsibilities will be gathering capacity data, executing statistical analysis of product demand, and providing insights into current state capabilities and future needs.  Contribute to the concept and development of complex components and subsystems while strengthening Supply Chain Planning and manufacturing engineering skills.  Interact with a global team of industry experts and contribute to the delivery of capacity planning projects.  Continually learns and stay abreast of innovative technology. 

The Enterprise Supply Chain Planning Analyst is responsible to achieve strategic capacity planning targets, including improvements the establishment of capacity planning requirements, agility requirements, inventory requirements, and Supply Chain assessments for a supplier.

JOB DUTIES:

Responsible for working within a cross functional projects focused on supplier capacity requirements, agility, and demand forecast visibility.

The Enterprise Supply Chain Planning Analyst provides support for purchasing categories supporting the Enterprise Production Planning for Suppliers (EPP-S) Process, which develops the long-term capacity plan for suppliers.

The Enterprise Supply Chain Planning Analyst is required to work and communicate effectively with diverse, multi-functional teams to apply the capacity planning process and support efforts to develop gap closure plans for suppliers.

The Enterprise Supply Chain Planning Analyst is required to take an enterprise-wide view of Supply Chain and capacity planning processes and tools, as well as leverage a thorough knowledge of manufacturing and agility to support the efforts of multiple teams across functions and divisions. Incumbent supports efforts to gather and analyze data on value stream/product family level to define capacity and agility requirements for each supplier based on statistical modeling and product insights.

The Enterprise Supply Chain Planning Analyst uses statistical data from the EPP-S toolset to provide baseline capacity planning data for key suppliers. This position coordinates with the Supply Chain Planning engineer in the documentation of this data into the EPP-S tool. This work requires the ability to leverage statistical concepts and tools. The incumbent must be able to work within teams consisting of members from multiple functions, driving collaboration and communication across divisions, including Purchasing, IT Support personnel, product group personnel, and global Supply Chain members.

Logistics Management : Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.

• Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.
• Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.
• Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.
• Participates in integrating logistics processes and developing effective networks.
• Works with logistics in a domestic environment.
Procurement: Knowledge of buying and procurement; ability to work with organizational strategies and practices, and use tools for buying goods, supplies, equipment and services needed to conduct business.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Monitors effectiveness of procurement policies in high-cost or critical path purchases.
• Selects appropriate qualified suppliers and negotiates related contracts.
• Compares and contrasts alternative sourcing strategies (sole sourcing, reverse auctions, etc.).
• Develops alternative sources of supply for the manufacturing organization.
• Assists in creating contingency plans for and with critical suppliers.
• Coordinates the procurement of a variety of products, materials and services.
Supply Chain Management - MFG : Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in Supply Chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Manages Supply Chain finance activities and measurements of effectiveness.
• Advises others on capacity issues at various points in the Supply Chain.
• Monitors the complete Supply Chain management process.
• Consults on Supply Chain network design projects or processes.
• Quantifies and evaluates benefits and risks of various Supply Chain strategies and approaches.
• Participates in joint planning, process design/redesign with clients and partners.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of progressively responsible Supply Chain, manufacturing, or procurement job experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Supply Chain Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience in the development and deployment of Supply Chain or Manufacturing Engineering processes 

Top Candidates will also have

• Experience and knowledge of capacity planning concepts and tools.

• Experience and knowledge of Supply Chain principles, specifically those applied to capacity planning, agility planning.

• Strong understanding and previous experience using common Supply Chain systems.

• Must have analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to creatively solve very complex problems.

• Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures and solid product knowledge

The location for this position is Peoria, IL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position will require less than 10% travel.
