Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Enterprise Architecture group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as an Enterprise IT Infrastructure Architect! Our team works a remote 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Architect, plan, and design sustainable capabilities and services.
  • Perform the technical facilitation, analysis, and design tasks for strategic projects.
  • Serve as a strategic and technical expert to Information Management (IM) in developing departmental standards and solutions based on laboratory needs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to IM to ensure IM's strategic direction is being followed from an operational perspective.
  • Lead multi-functional teams for the promotion, development, and implementation of architecture standards, technical solutions, and process improvement opportunities for the laboratory to achieve its mission and strategic objectives.
  • Enterprise architecture responsibilities providing solution support, reference architecture and technical leadership.
  • Responsible for technology architecture including POC, Initial solution expectations and aligning long term goals and strategy to practical solutions.
  • Responsible for Infrastructure architecture alignment with cyber security controls, customer requirements and long-term sustainability. Focus on repeatability, establishing standard processes and governance.
  • Responsible to coach and train members of IM in the effective use of standard tools within the established architecture and best business practices.
  • Work with IM management to perform issue problem diagnosis, option generation and resolution management.
  • Lead process improvements resulting in more effective software architecture and management of data.
  • Work with partners and data owners/stewards to identify requirements and expected outcomes. Model and frame business scenarios that are meaningful and which impact critical business processes and/or decisions.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree of science and 5-8 years' experience, MS and 3-6 years' experience, or PhD and 2-4 years' experience or 13 years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Relevant experience would include cloud services, application development, technology implementation, network design, cyber security, and data center virtualization.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Enterprise experience with Infrastructure Architecture supporting large scale network, voice, cloud, and datacenter operations.
  • Ability to effectively execute from concept to operational implementation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, relationships, and negotiation.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
  • Ability to apply technical solutions to business problems that span all architecture domains.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.

Job Information

  • Salary Grade PR0300: 220 ($107,520 - $177,336) / Salary Grade PR0400: 230 ($121,212 - $206,232)

  • TDP: Testing designated position; It will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and the selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
