Workplace Status:

Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the candidate is expected to report to their assigned worksite three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role:

An Enterprise AI Security Architect is pivotal in safeguarding the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystems of the global organization. This role encompasses the design, implementation, and oversight of robust security frameworks specifically tailored for AI applications and machine learning (ML) operations across global hybrid multi-cloud platforms and technologies. The enterprise Security Architect defines and drives AI security throughout the entire enterprise by collaborating with cross functional teams of AI architects, data scientists, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders.  The Enterprise AI Security is responsible for executing end-to-end information security, IT risk management processes, and automated capabilities that promote trustworthy AI practices.

Career Path:

Enterprise AI Security Architects can advance to senior roles such as Principal AI Security Architect, Lead AI Security Consultant, Chief Security Architect or move into broader security leadership positions such as CISO. Opportunities for specialization include areas like secure autonomous systems, AI governance, and compliance.

This role is essential in fostering a secure, trustworthy environment for AI initiatives, ensuring that AI technologies are deployed responsibly and continue to support the organization's strategic objectives securely and effectively.

Responsibilities:

1. Security Design and Architecture:

  • Lead AI working groups to design cybersecurity processes that enhance the enterprise’s ability to develop and implement secure AI solutions, aligning with business, technological, and threat considerations.  
  • Design cyberSecurity Architectures for AI and machine learning (ML) projects that align with overall cybersecurity strategies.
  •  Design security controls to protect AI data pipelines and machine learning models from data leakage, tampering, and unauthorized access.
  • Maintain Security Architecture artifacts like models, templates, standards, and procedures to bolster security capabilities in projects and operations.
  • Participate in industry (NIST, OpenSSF) and corporate led AI working groups to establish Trustworthy AI standards.

2. Risk Management:

  • Conduct risk assessments for AI systems, identifying potential security vulnerabilities, and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor developments in the digital business and AI threat landscapes to adjust cybersecurity strategies and architectural designs.
  • Design and evaluate AI security assessment tool chain for effectiveness in detecting AI vulnerabilities and provide technical guidance for SecDevOps maintenance.

3. Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure AI systems comply with relevant national and international data protection and privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, EU AI Act).
  • Apply security standards and frameworks, such as NIST, ISO, and others, to AI projects.
  • Draft and oversee cybersecurity procedures and standards that align with organizational policies.

4.  Strategic Security Planning:

  • Lead internal efforts to incorporate AI capabilities within the security organizations to enhance existing capabilities of security platforms and processes.   
  • Develop security strategy plans and roadmaps based on solid enterprise architecture practices.
  • Work with AI architects and developers to integrate security practices into the AI development lifecycle.
  • Advise on best practices for AI security, including secure coding practices, encryption techniques, and access control.

5. Vendor and Technology Assessments:

  • Evaluate security aspects of external vendors, especially those handling sensitive or regulated data, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Review new security technologies, tools, and services, and recommend actions based on security, financial, and operational metrics.

6. Education and Awareness

  •  Collaborate with Information Security Awareness Program to develop an integrate AI security risks and mitigations into existing training

Additional Description

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of AI technologies and their inherent security risks.
  • Experience with Security Architectures, frameworks, and regulations affecting AI.
  • Strong technical proficiency in security technologies such as firewalls, encryption, and identity management solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to translate cybersecurity needs into comprehensive strategic plans.

Preferred Skills:

  • Professional certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM) and/or AI (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer).
  • Hands-on experience in threat modeling and vulnerability management for AI systems.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey cybersecurity needs and strategies across various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to mentor and lead cross-functional teams towards achieving robust security postures.
  • Proactive in staying updated with the latest developments in AI and cybersecurity.
