JOB SUMMARY
The Data Analytics Student Worker provides research, data collection and analysis, and logistics support to the Enrollment Technology & Analytics team, within the division of Strategic Enrollment Management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct market research to determine viability of proposed new programs and degree types, using Lightcast data set and other relevant open data sources.
- Conduct primary and secondary research to determine trajectory of currently offered academic programs and review portfolio of offered programs.
- Collect, organize, and visualize data on internal St. Thomas enrollment trends, such as recruiting funnels and dashboards.
- Mine and process data from government and third-party sources as related to enrollment trends at competitor institutions (e.g., from IPEDS)
- Create simple Salesforce reports to provide recruiters with time-sensitive information about their prospective students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be an enrolled and degree seeking student at the University of St. Thomas
- Strong interest in research and data-informed decision making
- Fluency in discussing both quantitative and qualitative data
- Some data analysis background, at least in Microsoft Excel or similar
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Interest in higher education
- Interest in strategic planning and market research
- Experience in leading data collection through surveys and/or focus groups
- Experience working in CRM systems like Salesforce
- Higher-level data skills such as SQL, R or Python
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
