Description
Clackamas Community College (CCC) at the campus locations in Oregon City and Milwaukie (Harmony), Oregon seek to hire a full-time permanent Instructor position in our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) department starting in fall 2024. Division and Department
The ESOL Department resides in the Academic Foundation and Connections Division.
As a division we:

Duties & Responsibilities
This is a full-time faculty position. Full-time ESOL faculty have competence in teaching beginning through advanced levels in all skill areas. This instructor will coordinate faculty, instruction, and on-site instructional resources for the evening program on the Harmony (Milwaukie) campus. The ESOL department offers more sections in our evening program than in our day program on the Oregon City campus, so this instructor should expect to teach some evening courses.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • MA or MS in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Adult Education with an ESOL emphasis, or a related field with a certificate in TESOL/TEFL from an accredited institution.
  • At least two (2) years teaching ESOL at a university or community college, including some experience teaching English to an immigrant population.
  • Available to teach some evening courses.

  • Demonstrated competency in teaching ESOL through experience, educational preparation, or continuing education including familiarity with state learning standards
  • Demonstrable experience in program or project leadership
  • Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction
  • Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others
  • Demonstrates ability or desire to work with students and communities with cultural, linguistic, economic, educational and nuero diversity
  • Demonstrates ability or desire to continually explore how teaching practices are part of equity work
  • Demonstrates ability or desire to understand educational systems, to engage in the life of the College, and to impart positive change
  • Demonstrates fluency in or desire to learn a language other than English
  • Demonstrates ability or desire to work with a variety of technological media

Physical Requirements Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Working Conditions: Work environment includes classroom, lab, or other setting as appropriate.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervision of Other personnel is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel, and may assign work to student workers.
Supervision Received: Works under the general direction of the Dean of Academic Foundations and Connections.

    Additional Information
    The successful candidate in this position will work a 10-month contract and be paid for 175 days including six (6) paid holidays, per the Full-Time Faculty Bargaining Agreement. (insert agreement link)
    Starting Salary Expectations
    Initial Salary Placement will be Step 3 ($77,041 annually) per the CCC Full-time Faculty bargaining agreement.
    Benefits

    Terms of Employment
    • All positions at CCC are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
    • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
    • Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials from a regionally accredited institutions, or the equivalent, as recognized by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) or National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
    • Your official transcripts will need to be sent from the Registrar of your degree granting institution within 30-days of your hire.
    • Employees must maintain Metro Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA residency as a condition of employment.
