Salary:

As Engineering Technician Lead-Ship Installations you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned modernization and work in concert with TYCOM, Program Office, Maintenance Teams, In-Service Engineering Activities, Ships Program Managers, Participating Acquisition Resource Managers, SURFMEPP Detachment Engineers, Port Engineers, and Alteration Installation Teams to facilitate ship specific modernization planning and execution.

 

Maintain the documentation and upkeep of QA Logbooks, Shipboard Hindrances, and Production logs. Manages personnel in installing electrical Systems & equipment in support of Ship and Combat and C2 System installations. Leads personnel fabricating, maintaining, and repairing electronic, mechanical, and other components and equipment. Ensuring strict compliance with shipboard drawings, technical guidance, shipyard operating rules, and effective operation of fielded systems.
Clearance Specifications:

• Must be a US citizen with a current/active DoD TS/SCI security clearance.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Create and validate existing Alteration Work Notifications (WN's)

• Update MR requirements man-day and material cost estimates

• Plan installation tasks as necessary for Program and Fleet Modernization requirements.

• Manage system install schedule on a CVN


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

• An associate degree and 10 years of relevant experience

• Experience in developing and briefing maintenance and modernization documents and strategies to all working levels of the maintenance team, including SES and Flag Level.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to speak in front of Senior Military and Government Officials and large audiences, and great customer interaction.

• Able to apply practical engineering judgment and business acumen to scheduling modernization requirements and availability services for the Navy's non-nuclear surface ships.

• Demonstrated ability to interact with various customers and other Navy Commands and Activities to streamline processes fleet-wide and provide analysis and recommendations concerning ship-specific planning and integration of modernization work.

• Extensive experience with Navy/Military Maintenance Database Programs (i.e. NDE, OARs, VSB or similar).

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.


Preferred Experience:

• Considerable Navy Maintenance and Modernization Availability Planning experience.

• Related experience similar to or as: Combat Systems Maintenance Manager (CSMM), Combat Systems Officer of the Watch (CSOOW), Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW), Systems Test Officer (STO), Electrical Materials Officer (EMO), Main Propulsion Assistant (MPA), Command 3MC

• Navy Modernization Program experience. Considerable familiarity with NMP-MOM and NMP milestones desired

• Experience participating in Advanced Planning Sheet (Client), Strategic Integration Scheduling Review (SISR), and Integrated Project Team Development (IPTD) events.

• Ability to support a robust engineering process within SURFMEPP reviews of proposed changes to Fleet Modernization Program (FMP) requirements.

• Supervising and mentoring less experienced employees.

Physical Demands and Expectations:

• Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required.

• Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance.

• Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.


Travel Required: 25-30%
