Job Overview:

The Engineering Technical Leader mentors, plans, designs and implements manufacturing processes to improve efficiency during the product development phase and the transition into the production phase. Support all RFQ’s and communication per assigned customer.

Responsibilities and Duties Required

  • Assure and verify compliance of manufacturing methods as defined on customer drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
  • Review and approve all Bills of Materials created by the Project Engineer.
  • Collaborate with other management personnel to develop and maintain new products and design change milestones.
  • Review and approve all manufacturing router processes created by the Project Engineer.
  • Review and approve all time standards on routers.
  • Review and approve all fixture designs and CNC programs.
  • Prepare and lead efforts pertaining to customer product reviews to include Production Readiness Reviews when applicable.
  • Review and disposition product repairs, reworks, and MRB’s.
  • Investigate and oversee root cause and corrective actions on assigned programs.
  • Ensure completeness of milestone plans and verify tasks for assigned products are completed accordingly.
  • Lead efforts pertaining to customer escape utilizing all other engineering members to ensure accurate data is quickly available for review by the quality manager.
  • Review manufacturing cost data to ensure that the right plans are in place to meet the cost goals for assigned products.
  • Responsible to ensure Phase 3 and Phase 4 tasks are completed and approvals are obtained for assigned products.
  • Reviews and approves all estimators quotes for accuracy and compliance to customers flow down documents.
  • Participate in assigned customer communication pertaining to technical, quality, schedule and cost.
  • Recommend safety & ergonomic improvements in our material handling devices, manufacturing tools, and workstations to accommodate best practices for shop floor personnel.
  • Generate monthly quality, delivery and cost reports for each assigned project.
  • Participates in discussions with customers and suppliers as required.
  • Occasional traveling to customers and supply chain may be required.
  • Build our relationship and partnership with assigned customers to grow our business and sales according to management’s business plan.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Working knowledge of ERP system.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing and/or cost estimating
  • Must be Six Sigma green belt certified.
  • Ability to research, understand, and implement innovative technologies to reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, symbols, geometric tolerances, and specifications.
  • Must have working knowledge of the CAD/CAM system use, shop mathematics, sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, inspection methods, and coatings.
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office products.
  • Capable of mentoring employees.
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate and read English proficiently.

Job, Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift, move, transport and load items across the building up to 50 pounds at times.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and constantly re-position self to perform required tasks.
  • May be required to work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • May be exposed to physical hazards from moving equipment, heavy equipment, and machine parts.
  • Specific coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of equipment.
  • May work in close proximity to others.
  • Must wear protective clothing and gear as specified, including (but not limited to) steel toed shoes and protective eyewear.

Visual Acuity:

  • Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected.
  • Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to read computer screen and documents.

Hearing Ability:

  • Normal hearing or corrected to normal.
  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action.

Working Conditions:

  • Factory environment.
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours.
  • High noise levels from operating machines.
  • Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
  • Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
  • Skin exposure to chemicals associated with manufacturing.
