Engineering Technical Lead - Integrations

Eastern Time Zone - US & Canada, Remote

PartsTech is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Engineering Tech Lead for Inbound Partner Integrations. In this new role, you will drive the development and implementation of integrations with external partners, including automotive parts suppliers and industry stakeholders.

Specializing in integrations, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our platform's connectivity with external systems, ensuring seamless data exchange and interoperability. You will lead a team of engineers dedicated to designing, developing, and maintaining integrations with various third-party applications, enabling our customers to maximize the value of PartsTech's offerings.

What You'll Accomplish:

  • Work closely with Inbound Partners (Suppliers, 3rd party tools).
  • Take full ownership of all integration communications for the company.
  • Be the dedicated contact for all inquiries related to inbound APIs with each Inbound partner.
  • Stay abreast of updates, new API versions, and migrations to modern platforms from Partners.
  • Coordinate new releases with internal Product Engineering teams and Inbound Partners, including testing in the staging environment.
  • Help to enhance inbound partner APIs by gathering requirements from internal Product Engineering teams and requesting improvements from Inbound partners.
  • Develop preliminary business cases to highlight mutual benefits and highlight the potential alignment with industry practices.
  • Manage SLAs - Collect metrics from all Inbound APIs.
  • Work with Product Engineering teams to find alternatives to improve customer experience when SLAs are sub-standard.
  • Collaborate internally with Product Engineering, IT, Technical Support, Customer Experience, Sales, Marketing, SMS partners, and customers.
  • Ensure that all internal/external announcements are being communicated through our Product Marketing Team.
  • Determine what needs to be monitored and how (tools, processes, alerts) in order to support the incident management process (how to detect issues, how to triage/troubleshoot, how to notify partners, how to recover, etc.)
  • Focus on reducing MTTR (Mean Time to Recover).
  • Manage Inbound Integration Slack channel(s).
  • Provide insights regarding inbound APIs to the customer experience team so they can improve processes, address resource capacity, etc.
  • Conduct reviews:
    • Weekly Business Reviews (WBRs): Collaboration with Customer Support, Product, Engineering, and Technical Partner Support to review a real-time report.
    • Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs): Present to OKRs to Stakeholders monthly.
    • Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs): Snapshot report to BoD, SMS.
    • Quarterly Business Review with Partners and Suppliers.
    • Semi-Annual SaaS Platform Analysis.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, preferred.
  • 6 - 8 years of engineering experience with 2- 4 years spent in technical leadership focused on building integrations.
  • Must reside in the Eastern Time Zone in either the US or Canada.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js.
  • Deep understanding of API design principles, RESTful architecture, and data serialization formats (e.g., JSON, XML).
  • Experience with integration platforms and tools (e.g., MuleSoft, Zapier, Postman).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex systems and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successfully leading engineering teams and driving projects to completion.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Experience in the automotive industry or related domains (e.g., e-commerce, supply chain management) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Leadership

  • Experience leading global teams, preferably with 2-3 years in a follow-the-sun model.
  • Advocacy for team resources and prioritization help for teammates.
  • Focus on technical decision-making for complex systems and critical areas.
  • Experience de-escalating conflicts and building technical consensus.
  • Dedication to creating a positive, supportive, and collaborative team culture.

Technology

  • Extensive experience in B2B SaaS product engineering, with a strong understanding of cloud-based architectures, microservices, and scalable web applications.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin/Java, OpenSearch, Solr, Elasticsearch.
  • Familiarity with React JS or other frontend frameworks.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL/gRPC.
  • Familiarity with PHP/Symfony.
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies, including agile, scrum, and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with data storage technologies, databases, and data modeling.
  • Consistent delivery of high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with AWS (or equivalent public cloud services), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), SaaS application development/support, CI/CD practices, Containerization, and Kubernetes, emphasizing the understanding of their value.
  • AWS certifications are a plus.
