Job Summary:
Under the direction of Assistant Director of Mechanical Trades, the Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the operations of Main Campus Engineering Shop working in conjunction with and coordinating efforts with eh Service Mechanic/Filter tech Supervisor serving assigned buildings on Main, Ambler and/or Dental School Campuses. Provides oversight of building and roving engineers on 2nd and 3rd shifts. Oversight includes trades-worker supervision and task assignment, technical assistance and training technicians to provide mechanical asset oversight, troubleshooting and repair for the institution. Provide other support including providing technical expertise to cross-department or University-wide projects; consulting with others as needed to coordinate the planning and execution of projects, and the delivery of a service to other departments within the University. Adheres to procedures and standards pertinent to area of responsibility. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
***This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle background check.***
Required Education and Expereince:
*At least five years institutional mechanical trades supervisory experience.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
*Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, pumps, air handlers, VAV, CAV, building automation and all related systems common to University buildings and labs.
*Knowledge of air handling systems as a whole and ability to troubleshoot and accurately diagnose existing and potential problems.
*Understanding of ANSI and HVAC codes.
*Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population.
*Knowledge of project management and the ability to establish priorities.
*Working knowledge of closed loop chilled or hot water systems and refrigeration principles.
*All applicants must pass a criminal background check prior to hire.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Must have a valid Driver's License;
*Must be able to work On-Call several weeks throughout the year;
*Must have a basic understanding of building codes.
*Proven supervisory skills with the ability to manage projects;
*Working knowledge of all applicable computer software including MS Office; Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
*Demonstrated ability to read drawings, schematics, and one line diagrams;
*Familiarity with all laws and regulations pertaining to equipment operation and repair;
*Ability to operate all standard engineering and facilities management equipment.

Preferred:
*Philadelphia Class A Engineer License desired.
