Are You a Good Fit?
The ideal candidate must be able to support the Public Works Department goals of providing superior service in the area of streets, drainage, sidewalk right-of-way (ROW) maintenance, capital improvement program and asset management. This employee will maintain the pavement management software and street assessment data collection. This position will oversee and serve as technical representative for the Public Works Capital Improvement Program and Rehabilitation Funding related to streets, sidewalk and drainage. This position will assist in drafting internal safety policies and procedures for the Streets/Drainage and ROW divisions and lead the coordination efforts on special projects, such as the General Obligation Bonds programming and the Development Review Process (DRC).
Strong attention to detail and ability to make independent judgements is critical for success in the role, as are high levels of organization, and self-motivation.

The ideal candidate must be extremely organized and able to manage the logistics of multiple duties with professionalism and strong communication skills. In addition, they will have a strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment-both critical for success in the role, as are high levels of accuracy, timeliness and dependability. Ideal candidates will also look for innovative, trailblazing solutions to challenges We are looking for someone who can establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization and work effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- A minimum of five years (5) years' experience in in public administration or management.
- An advanced degree or additional relevant work experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted in lieu of specific education or exempt-level experience requirements.
- Experience in municipal field is preferred.
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver License
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas (preferred) or ability to obtain by reciprocity within twelve (12) months.
