TITLE Engineering Intern
COMPANY JTEKT North America DEPARTMENT Engineering
LOCATION Cairo, GA CLASSIFICATION Intern /Hourly
REPORTS TO Engineering Supervisor
Summary/Purpose
The Engineering Intern will assist the Engineering supervisor with special projects pertaining to process improvement and implementation. The Intern will present the results of their projects to the Cairo leadership team after the duration of the assignment.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
• Support of other engineers in solving problems associated with manufacturing for new or existing products.
• Design and development of tooling, mechanisms, and equipment for use in metalworking in manufacturing processes
• Requires the ability to interact and work with associates at multiple skill levels throughout the organization.
• Create/Modify database records.
• Provide engineering support in area of scrap reduction, productivity improvements utilizing Lean tools, machine builds, and quality improvements.
• Work closely with management, other engineers, technicians, production departments, machine shop, maintenance/repair, and factory service associates.
• Work daily overtime and Saturdays and/or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.
• Support 5-S, Kaizen Team, and Koyo Production Systems, TS16949 and ISO14000 efforts throughout the plant
• Other job duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficient in using computers with the Windows operating system including the Microsoft Office Group of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Proficient with Creo and AutoCAD
• Capable of taking engineering theories and putting them to practical use in manufacturing
• Proven business awareness
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic)
• Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing procedures/systems
• Proficient computer skills - MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel)
Education and Experience:
• College student or recent graduate studying Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

• Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer.
• Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
• The performance of this position will require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
