About the Position: This position is located in the St. Paul District. You will be assigned to a large self-propelled hydraulic pipeline dredge (20" discharge) engaged in dredging operations of channels and harbors on the Mississippi River.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision. Experience with general equipment operation of all sizes such as bulldozers, excavators, crawler type machines, front-end type loaders, outboard motors, power hoists, capstans and winches. Making minor repairs to equipment and performing preventive maintenance such as checking all oils and fluids, air filters, batteries, monitoring gauges, and monitoring track condition and tension. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Selective Placement Factor: USACE Heavy Equipment Operator Certification is required.

- Physical Effort: The operator is frequently required to sit in one position for extended periods of time causing strain and fatigue. Moderate physical effort is required to operate the various control mechanisms.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed in all types of weather, in an open operator's seat, on hills, slopes, marshes, rolling and flat terrain. Operator is subject to insect bites when working in marshy areas. The possibility of injury exists in the event that the equipment overturns and the operator is continually exposed to dusty, dirty and noisy working conditions.
