Job Description
Cristek manufactures electrical connectors, cable assemblies, harnesses, and related electro-mechanical products, and holds multiple quality certifications including AS9100 & ISO 9001. Cristek, established in 1985, is headquartered in Anaheim, CA with divisions in North Billerica, MA and Minden, NV. The Engineering Designer will collaborate with associates across multiple departments & sites, to provide design support for the factory, and perform electro-mechanical CAD design work through all development stages.
Job Responsibilities: Key member of a team analyzing customer requirements to determine the most cost-effective, technically compliant, and schedule-compliant approach to meeting customer needs.
- Develop solid models, assemblies, component drawings, customer use drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and process documentation for electro-mechanical products, tooling, and test fixtures.
- Convert legacy CAD data to current software and standards.
- Support Sales department with cross-reference checks, solid model requests, RoHS/REACH questionnaires, and other customer queries.
- Design and/or specify electrical connectors & related hardware, especially micro connectors, nano connectors, and RF connectors.
- Support the design of custom cables & harnesses, and custom electro-mechanical systems.
- Provide design support for all production lines.
- Active role in the evaluation and disposition of non-conforming material from the factory and from outside suppliers.
- Perform research supporting new electro-mechanical programs under development.
- Assure that designs comply with requirements from the customer, from Cristek, and from industry standards.
- Directly influence improvements to product quality, operator safety, and production efficiency.
- Collaborate with other engineers and with other departments to improve Cristek’s ability to meet customer needs more quickly and cost-effectively.
• Holding or working toward a certificate or degree related to Engineering Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field.
• Proficiency with Computer Aided Design. Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
• Exposure to a Manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management systems, document control, and CAD data management.
• Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Exposure to manufacturing processes, and assembly & testing of precision electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of MIL-Specs and other industry standards used in aerospace and defense designs.
• Exposure to fabrication processes, including machining, molding, metal forming, and plating.
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational, analytical, decision making, & problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
