Engineering Department Manager – Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking an Engineering Department Manager – Natural Gas Transmission and Distributionto support our Utility Services group in our Hammond, IN office.

Responsibilities include:

• Management of Natural Gas engineering and design Transmission and Distribution projects to meet proposed schedule and budget targets
• Provide leadership for engineering, design and field personnel supporting the Natural Gas projects
• Manage the Natural Gas T&D department budget and align with the established business plan
• Assure engineering and design compliance with Natural Gas standards and codes
• Develop, review and approve client proposals for engineering, design and field support services
• Lead and monitor safe work practices for engineering, design and field staff
• Provide technical oversight for Natural Gas piping stress, flow and pressure calculations
• Provide technical oversight for Natural Gas meter and regulator stations and associated facilities
• Oversee quality control of engineering deliverables including drawings, scopes of work and specifications
• Develop relationships and coordinate activities with internal and external clients
• Supervise equipment and construction estimating efforts to support client TIC budgeting
• Review staff timesheets and expense reports for accuracy
• Comply with client requirements for budget forecasting
• Manage staff performance reviews
• Attend weekly management meetings and report on department performance
• Travel to client sites and company meetings on an as needed basis

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering curriculum from a 4 year ABET accredited college or university
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 10 years + of Natural Gas engineering work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Documented engineering management experience
• Liquified Natural Gas, Underground Storage and Propane Operations experience
