Engineering Department Manager – Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking an Engineering Department Manager – Natural Gas Transmission and Distributionto support our Utility Services group in our Hammond, IN office.
Responsibilities include:
- Management of Natural Gas engineering and design Transmission and Distribution projects to meet proposed schedule and budget targets
- Provide leadership for engineering, design and field personnel supporting the Natural Gas projects
- Manage the Natural Gas T&D department budget and align with the established business plan
- Assure engineering and design compliance with Natural Gas standards and codes
- Develop, review and approve client proposals for engineering, design and field support services
- Lead and monitor safe work practices for engineering, design and field staff
- Provide technical oversight for Natural Gas piping stress, flow and pressure calculations
- Provide technical oversight for Natural Gas meter and regulator stations and associated facilities
- Oversee quality control of engineering deliverables including drawings, scopes of work and specifications
- Develop relationships and coordinate activities with internal and external clients
- Supervise equipment and construction estimating efforts to support client TIC budgeting
- Review staff timesheets and expense reports for accuracy
- Comply with client requirements for budget forecasting
- Manage staff performance reviews
- Attend weekly management meetings and report on department performance
- Travel to client sites and company meetings on an as needed basis
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering curriculum from a 4 year ABET accredited college or university
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 10 years + of Natural Gas engineering work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Documented engineering management experience
- Liquified Natural Gas, Underground Storage and Propane Operations experience
