Position Summary:
BioMerieux is seeking an Engineering Co-op to join the Durham Site Automation Engineering team to assist with the development and implementation of engineering solutions in a manufacturing environment. This will be a great opportunity to gain real world experience while working in a fast paced, regulated Medical Instruments industry.
The co-op is anticipated to run from middle of May - December 2024 working an average of 40 hours a week and will be based onsite at facility in Durham, NC.
The Automation Engineering team is responsible for the installation, maintenance, programming, and improvement of the Automated and computerized equipment used in the Manufacturing and Packaging bioMerieux BacT/Alert line of products.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and implementation of engineering solutions to improve bioMerieux manufacturing systems.
- Conduct engineering studies, perform manufacturing data mining and analysis.
- Write Excel Macros using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and develop software applications using C#, VB.net, or Python.
- Other assignments as directed by management.
Education, Skills, & Experience:
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree program at a recognized institution of higher Learning
- Upcoming junior year or higher preferred
- Majoring in Engineering or Computer Science, or related field, required. Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Experience with PLC programming, C, C++, Python, and/or SQL highly desired
