Job description

Individual will be responsible for assessing and promoting actions that ensure the proper maintenance of Eversource NH Transmission & Distribution substations based on established criteria, rules, and standards including NERC, CIP and NPCC Compliance.
This is a hybrid role. The first three months may be fulltime in the office.
Essential Functions:

  • Work with the department managers to identify, plan and prioritize system maintenance and reinforcements needed to maintain system reliability, power quality, and system growth needs.
  • Undertake engineering work in support of other Eversource NH departments. Specifically, individual will evaluate maintenance test results needed to develop near and long term system reliability assessments and contingency response plans.
  • Responsible for primarily providing technical support for Transmission & Distribution substation equipment maintenance, testing, and repair. Specifically, this individual will evaluate maintenance test results needed to develop near and long-term Transmission & Distribution system reliability assessments in support of NH Construction and Maintenance KPI goals.
  • Responsible for supporting IR testing and equipment replacements for Distribution and Transmission lines based on Eversource standard procedures.
  • Adept at statistical analysis and engineering economics.
  • Use a multitude of PC and mainframe computer systems to prepare work orders, construction drawings, ensure the availability of materials, prepare proposals, and verify completed test results.
  • Participate in committees and forums, which may require overnight travel throughout the Eversource Energy System and other locations, to enhance competencies in electric power engineering theory and practice.
  • Assist engineers who interface with other utilities, independent parties, and the Department of Energy.
  • Review existing maintenance procedures, enforce required maintenance practices and coordinate training on the latest industry standards and equipment.
  • Work closely with Transmission & Distribution Engineering and Projects groups on a wide range of technical and schedule issues.
  • Assist in electric system restoration efforts during storms and emergencies.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
  • The ability to read and use substation wiring, elementary, general arrangement and other drawings is preferred along with a familiarity of Eversource Energy Transmission & Distribution polices & procedures.
  • Experience with Doble™ test equipment & software, Alber ™ test equipment, Cascade software, Adept software, Maximo and standard Eversource software programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FLIR thermographic equipment and software is also preferred.
  • The ability to obtain FLIR level 1 Thermographer Certification is required.

  • Will have storm restoration and emergency assignments.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

  • Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

Experience:
  • Minimum of three years of related experience

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The salary range for this position starts at $92,140.00 and the market rate is $102,380.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.

Working Conditions:
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
