Purpose:
The Engineer I is responsible for implementation of all property and equipment preventive maintenance and repairs, monitor life safety systems and utilities and administer the department in compliance with all corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to protect assets, guests and associates. Responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of the hotel’s mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, and for the general maintenance and upkeep of the hotel and it’s grounds.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, maintenance of laundry equipment, ice machines, fire extinguishers and alarms, kitchen equipment, etc…) and any/all other equipment throughout the hotel.
- Service the hotel's pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; completing maintenance request forms and record logs.
- Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
- Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, pool, painting, and gardening).
- Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
- Communicate with hotel department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
- Maintain hotel standards and follow-up on inspection deficiencies.
- Coordinate compliance of service contracts.
- Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Trade, Vocational Certificate and/or college course work in related field a plus. Minimum of three (3) years in a hotel maintenance type position. Painting, drywall, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical, and pool operations are a must.

Command of the English language both written and verbal. Well organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Always maintain a professional appearance and manner. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. Ability to work beyond standard hours when necessary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the guests’ needs. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions from supervisor. Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent with at least one (1) year hospitality experience.
