The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is a not-for-profit international regulatory authority whose mission is to assure the effective and efficient reduction of risks to the reliability and security of the grid. NERC develops and enforces Reliability Standards; annually assesses seasonal and long-term reliability; monitors the bulk power system through system awareness; and educates, trains, and certifies industry personnel. NERC's area of responsibility spans the continental United States, Canada, and the northern portion of Baja California, Mexico. NERC is the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) for North America, subject to oversight by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Provincial authorities in Canada. NERC's jurisdiction includes users, owners, and operators of the bulk power system, which serves nearly 400 million people.

Your Impact
NERC seeks a mission-focused individual who wants to make a difference by supporting the reliability of the North American electric grid. As Enforcement Analyst (Analyst) you play an important role in supporting the North American's grid security and reliability through various Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program (CMEP) activities. You will support a variety of assignments related to the review of streamlined matters, assessment of process alignment through oversight activities, and support of implementation of improvements to the CMEP tools and processes. These activities are conducted through coordination, collaboration, and engagement with CMEP staff across the ERO Enterprise. This position reports to the Manager of Analysis and Reporting.
Your Role
  • Review and prepare enforcement dispositions to ensure appropriateness and completeness.
  • Participate in various CMEP oversight activities.
  • Plan and coordinate regulatory process reviews, including notifications, timelines, and reports.
  • Draft, review, revise, and maintain reports that are informative, concise and communicate key objectives to the target audience.
  • Identify improvement opportunities based on relevant process reviews and oversight activities and communicate them with applicable parties to ensure consistency of enforcement-related tasks and activities across tasks across the ERO Enterprise.
  • Ensure consistency and efficiency of the organization's records management such as preservation, handling, retention and/or destruction of the records, by leading or participating in projects with subject matter experts, business leads, and information owners per established policies.
  • Support activities related to maintenance of CMEP tools and ensuring accuracy of data and records.
  • Recommend improvements to data management system and modifications to business rules and implement feedback to achieve goals as needed.
  • Perform data analysis and prepare appropriate reports and documentation for presentation to NERC management, the NERC Board of Trustees Compliance Committee, and FERC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, information systems, or related fields with five to eight years of relevant experience.
  • Basic understanding of the subject matter.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building relationships with diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to deliver quality and accurate work products.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and publish reports and other documents.
  • Have demonstrated experience writing reports.
  • Strong analytical abilities involving complex problems.
  • Strong facilitation, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong adaptability and capacity to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative.

An Excellent Candidate Will Have
  • Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards and the CMEP.
  • Knowledge of bulk power system planning, operations, and information security.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and enforcement within a recognized industry, government, or government-authorized agency.
  • Proficiency with SAP, Transactional SQL, and database management software and query building.

  • This position has been classified as exempt.
  • The position may be based remotely but must be able to travel to NERC offices, if needed. Reimbursement of travel expenses will be in accordance with the company's travel and expense reimbursement policies.
