The energy transition continues to disrupt regional commodity markets and with the Americas being a core growth region for the RWE group, RWETA has ambitious expansion plans and seeks highly motivated and experienced professionals to join the NYC-based team.
This is a unique career opportunity to play a key role in the formation of a trading and origination business in a market of strategic importance to a long established, and highly respected international Energy Trading company that has physical and financial energy markets in its DNA.

• As the objective is to increase the profitability and efficiency of our trading business, you are an integral part of RWETA's commercial team, reporting directly to the Head of Americas Trading and Origination;
• As our local expert interface for all things 'Trading Data analytics', you will familiarise yourself with the existing and available front office IT systems, processes, and data sources in order to lead the processing and presentation of large datasets, ranging from commodity trading and time series data through the many drivers of regional energy supply and demand;
• Working alongside front office colleagues, and in collaboration with relevant teams across the global organization to ensure consistent inputs and approach, you will design and implement effective and intuitive analytics solutions tailored to RWETA's specific trading desk requirements, constantly evolving as market and product coverage expand;
• Upon gaining significant exposure to the exciting North American energy sector, you will embrace the opportunity to develop statistical and machine learning models, and constantly explore new and creative ways to present insights and patterns to inform trading decisions;

Your powerful skills

• You hold a Master's degree in computer science, mathematics or related field, and have at least 3 years' experience in a data driven environment as an applied Data Scientist/engineer/quant, ideally in a trading environment;
• In depth knowledge of relevant programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and a proven track record building and deploying data mining algorithms and performing statistical analysis on large datasets;
• Preferably you are familiar with Tableau and other data visualization tools, and demonstrate a passion for effectively transforming raw data into exciting and actionable insights;
• Interest in learning more about the wholesale energy commodity markets and the fundamentals behind the data;
• You have excellent analytics presentation and communication skills and are enthusiastic about interaction with commercial and support function teams, including regular interaction across a global organization;
• Ability to creatively apply data and analytics technology to solve commercial problems;
• Self-motivated, a strong team player, but confident working autonomously to deliver complex projects and multiple tasks with a high attention to detail within a fast-paced environment;
• You are excited to work in a role requiring daily in-person collaboration with your colleagues on our state-of-the-art trading floor in central Manhattan.
