Job Overview:

Manages the safety, productivity, training, morale, and security of a Team.  Monitors facility equipment and meets established equipment availability targets. Possesses strong expertise in multiple technical work areas and directly responsible for skilled Team Members.

Requirements:

  • Acts as the technical and disciplinary lead of the group.
  • Oversees, organizes, and coordinates all work content of the group. Motivates, supports, develops, and challenges team members to their optimal potential.
  • Manages flow of communication to the team and to management including developing data reports. 
  • Facilitates and participates in regularly scheduled meetings.  
  • Drives continuous improvement for Energy Center operations, maintenance and environmental aspects. Identified trouble areas and leads the efforts to resolve issues. 
  • Administer company policies and procedures and resolves complex employee issues. 
  • Assumes ownership and accountability for personnel management: Responsible for evaluations/reviews, coaching, counseling, resource planning and team building.
  • Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Plans, controls, and approves vacation, employee shifts, qualifications, and schedules.
  • Provides feedback to all involved departments to improve overall performance of the plant.
  • Resolves issues that are varied and non-routine
  • Identifies opportunities and projects to reduce operating and energy cost
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for 10-15 skilled facility and Energy Center operator technicians 
  • Project management and workshop involvement 

Qualifications

High School Diploma and 3 years of Supervisory experience preferably in a Manufacturing environment. Internal Employees: Completed successfully PV-45 or currently fulfilling position of Group Leader.

Knowledge and skills

  • Highly knowledgeable of operation and maintenance of Energy Center equipment.
  • Flexible individual with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills essential, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Utilization of a building management system for monitoring, controlling, trending and data reporting for Energy Center equipment.
  • Able to problem solve. Understands and applies "root cause analysis".
  • Able to develop and deliver training for Energy Center equipment.
  • SAP for entering information, pulling data and developing reports.
  • Power BI.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC has invested more than 500 million U.S. dollars in the new Sprinter plant, which officially opened in 2018. Today the MBV facility provides more than 1,600 jobs and supports at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers. More than 200,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the U.S. since 2006. Therefore, MBV celebrates a 15-year legacy of SKD production in 2021. The U.S. is the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
