The community you'll be caring for:
AdventHealth Apopka is a seven-story, 120-bed hospital offering an extensive range of services including expanded surgical services, advanced surgical suites and a catheterization lab
The hospital also features a 30,000-square-foot emergency department with pediatric-friendly beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, chapel, gift shop and on-site fire station
The hospital opened in December 2017, replacing the 50-bed hospital that AdventHealth had operated in downtown Apopka for more than four decades
The role you'll contribute:
The Endoscopy Associate assists the physician and RN in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures,
prepares and maintains the endoscopy equipment, Adheres to Adventhealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules
and regulations of all applicable local, State and Federal agencies and accrediting bodies, transports the patient, actively
participates in outstanding customer service, assists in patient care delivery under the direct supervision of the Registered
Nurse.

Provides safe, clean, tested and inspected items by performing decontamination and high-level disinfection/
Sterilization according to manufacture instructions
Maintains records on scope and instrumentation maintenance
Prepares patients for procedures under the direction of registered nurse
Identifies recording errors/artifacts and reacts appropriately
Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated supplies and equipment for each individual endoscopy procedure
Under direct supervision of Physician and RN, instills medication via scopes
Utilizes knowledge of video system equipment. Troubleshoots problems with the system as needed
Follows Adventhealth policy and procedures
Follows standard of practice according to Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and Society of
Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA)
Performs other duties as assigned
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School Grad
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of school of surgical technology, or LPN program or military program
Experience working with patients
Experience with decontamination and disinfection of equipment and instrumentation
SGNA Associates program
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Basic Life Support - CPR Cert
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION:
Certified Surgical Technician, OR SGNA - GI Technical Specialist (GTS), OR SGNA - Advanced GI
Technical Specialist (AGTS)
