OVERVIEW
The Endoscopy Room Nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect provision of safe, professional nursing care of the patients in the Endoscopy suite, Pre-Procedure, and Recovery. The nurse is accountable for ongoing evaluation and documentation of all components of care delivered to patients within the perioperative and outpatient environment utilizing the nursing process.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current and active unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida
- Current Endoscopy experience
- Certified, or willing to certify, in BLS/ACLS
- Follows and completes assignments as given by the Clinical Director
- Creates and maintains an atmosphere with a positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility
- Maintains a liaison with the patient, their family, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for the patient care
- Collaborates with appropriate disciplines in developing coordinated outcomes and interventions
- Circulates surgical procedures for various surgeons that operate at the facility
- Supports and maintains a safe patient care environment
- Ensures that the Endoscopy Suites are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner
- Prepares surgery suite for surgical procedures
- Gathers supplies and equipment for surgical cases
- Follows established universal precautions in the use of PPE
- Individualizes patient care according to patient’s health status and surgery/procedure being performed
- Assists with patient positioning and transport
- Maintains patient privacy at all times
- Carries out physician orders
- Operates equipment and performs technical skills according to policies and standards; learns new skills and seeks assistance appropriately.
- Synthesizes patient data and implements action plan appropriate to situation (good judgment, critical thinking)
- Recognizes situations (patient, staff, visitor, and physician) and significant assessment findings that require verbal or written communication and follow through to the appropriate people
- Records all information correctly and accurately in the patient’s medical record
- Interacts with team members regarding patient progress
- Serves as a clinical liaison
- Supervises non-licensed personnel as assigned
- Monitors surgery inventory and notifies appropriate individual(s) when supplies are needed
- Restocks supplies in surgery suite when procedures have ended for the day
- Participates in identifying and developing the performance improvement focus and criteria Supports the mission, vision, and core values of the organization
- Observes facility policies, procedures, and processes
- Purposefully conducts all aspects of job in an ethical manner in support of the organization’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity
- Demonstrates professional accountability
- Maintains confidentiality according to established policy
- Maintains patient’s rights
- Assumes accountability and responsibility for attendance and timely completion of competencies and mandatory programs

- Other duties as assigned
- Is subject to frequent interruptions
- Is involved with patients, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances
- May be subject to hostile upset patients, family members, personnel, and visitors
- May need to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary
- Inherent potential for contact with blood, body fluids or tissues
