General Responsibilities: Under supervision of the registered nurse and in collaboration with other team members, the LPN provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, professional standards of care, state of Idaho regulations, AAAHC accreditation standards and Idaho Gastroenterology philosophy, policies, and procedures.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Assist with carrying out all duties related to patients needs during pre and post procedure phases of care under the direction/supervision of the registered nurse.
2. Initiates emergency measures when necessary
3. Communicates pertinent information to co-workers and reports errors in a timely manner to charge nurse or supervisor
4. LPN is accountable for administration of drugs, IV procedures and other therapeutic measures in a safe and accurate manner and in accordance with physician's order under the direction/supervision of the registered nurse.
5. Provide a safe environment for the patient to prevent potential injury. Investigates and intervenes in problem situations, reporting appropriate information to supervisor and documents same
6. Provide guidance to other staff members assisting with orientation as needed.
7. Assist with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and medications.
8. Initiate patient teaching and discussion of home instructions, documentation for patient's understanding
9. Consult with appropriate supervisor or physicians as needed
10. Assist in crash cart maintenance and defibrillator checks, monitoring expiration dates and recalls
11. Complete patient documentation in a clear, concise, and timely manner using the designated EMR system
12. Demonstrate ability to re-process scope and troubleshoot issues. The LPN maintains familiarity with function of scope and cleaning room
13. Seek educational opportunities and accepts responsibility for own professional growth and development. Participates in training offered on-site, staff meetings, and other meetings as required
14. Accept direction from supervisor and/or physicians and adheres to established procedures and policies

20. Function within the legal limits of Nurse Practice Act
21. Participate in the QI program as needed
22. Complete yearly competency modules in Cardiac Monitoring, Blood Glucose, Infection Control and Scope Room
23. Maintain computer skills required to function in EPIC
24. Utilize Microsoft Outlook email for non-patient correspondence and EPIC for patient care correspondence/documentation
25. Demonstrate respect of IGA policies for security, privacy, and confidentiality while using IGA equipment. Follows personnel policies contained within the IGA personnel manual
26. Immediately reports any network, hardware, or software malfunction to the IT Officer and/or on shift supervisor
27. Flexibility with assignments; able to work at all IGA endoscopy locations when needed.
28. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Idaho State license to practice as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Experience in ambulatory surgery or endoscopy preferred
- Membership in Gastroenterology or endoscopy specialty or other local, state or national professional societies encouraged
- Maintain BLS certifications as required
- Completion of cardiac and sedation module within probationary period and annually
- Physical requirements include able to lift up to 50 lbs, able to tolerate normal sitting, pulling/pushing, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching, talking and hearing. Must be able to tolerate standing for long periods of time. Must be able to respond to a medical emergency within 2 minutes.
