About Encore Family Store

Encore is a project of ICAP, a nonprofit community action organization is a community based non-profit which serves primarily low-income families and senior citizens in a 14-county area of East Central South Dakota. dedicated to fostering community strength and support. At Encore, we believe in sustainability, community engagement, and providing quality goods at affordable prices. Our store is more than just a place to shop; it's a hub for community action and engagement, driven by a mission to support and uplift.

The Role:

As the Thrift Store Manager, you will be overseeing all aspects of store operations, from inventory management to community engagement. Your leadership will ensure the store operates smoothly, maintains its welcoming atmosphere, and meets its financial and community-oriented goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Management: Supervise day-to-day operations, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient inventory management, and a safe, attractive store environment.
• Inventory and Donation Management: Lead the processing and merchandising of donations to maintain a vibrant selection of goods.
• Volunteer and Staff Management: Hire, train, and inspire a team of staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and productive work culture.
• Financial Management: Oversee financial operations, including cash handling and budget management, to ensure the store's profitability and sustainability.
• Community Engagement and Marketing: Act as a representative of Encore and ICAP in the community, building partnerships and participating in events to promote the store's mission.

Who We're Looking For:

We are seeking an individual with a background in retail or business management, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to community service. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, problem-solving, and enthusiastic about working in a nonprofit environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree or relevant experience preferred.
• At least 12 months of experience in a retail environment, with a track record of managing cash, inventory, and customer service.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with the community and maintain confidentiality.

Physical and Other Requirements:

• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Possess or ability to obtain a valid South Dakota Driver's License and ability to be bonded.
