General Summary
This position works under close supervision and is primarily responsible for operating in the Packaging department. The areas are defined as sanitizing, blending, boxing, warehouse/freezer, and bagging.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Sets-up (assembles and disassembles), operates, adjusts, cleans and sanitizes equipment to package products within quality standards and according to procedures.
2. Assists others in the areas trained as required by production demands or by direction of the Supervisor.
3. Troubleshoots and/or identifies equipment failures or problems.
4. Completes necessary paperwork and/or data entry for production and/or inventory records.
5. Participates in continuous improvement activities using Lean concepts and principles.
6. Takes necessary samples for QC testing as needed.
7. Adheres to all GMP, including sanitary requirements, Safety, ISO and Standardized Work procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to read, write and speak English.
2. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to the production process including conversion of weight and volume in the metric system.
3. Ability to read and follow a production journal to packaging finished goods.
4. Ability to operate a pallet walker and/or forklift, preferred.
5. Ability to use basic hand tools (screwdriver and wrench) for assembly and disassembly of equipment.
6. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers regarding the status of the production process.
7. Basic computer skills, preferred.
8. These characteristics are normally acquired through a High School Diploma or GED with experience in a production environment preferred.
Position starting pay is $20.00 per hour with 2nd Shift premium!
