A faculty member guides, oversees, counsels, and assesses students within the classroom and laboratory settings of Emergency Medical Technology. Conducts research, formulates, and executes updates to EMT/Paramedic curricula and course schedules, ensuring alignment with the accreditation standards set by the State of Arizona, CoAEMSP, CAAHEP and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

Faculty will instruct a diverse population of students in a classroom, online, lab or activity class setting; develop written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; design curriculum or programs to meet student needs; evaluate knowledge of subject matter taught and monitor students' scholastic records; prepare and grade exams; develop and enhance knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field; maintain office hours to assist and advise students; participate actively in department and college functions. Essential Functions Develops course syllabi and materials which include learning centered strategies to engage students and promote student success; creates instructional materials and develops curriculum that demonstrates innovation in teaching by focusing on student learning, retention and achievement; incorporates instructional technology and alternative delivery of courses; instructs in both traditional and non-traditional settings such as Learning Communities, short term courses, hybrid and on-line courses; utilizes college and departmental assessment tools; participates in continuous evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning Assists and responds to problems/requests from students during in-person office hours, virtual office hours and electronic communication; serves on collaborative work teams with faculty, staff, administration and community stakeholders, keeps Department hours of accountability Remains current with new trends and developments in the field through attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops and active within the community; engages in the academic life of the college by participating in district-wide, campus and departmental activities including department meetings, committees and projects Minimum Qualifications What is required to teach in this program? You need 5 years of occupational experience in the following fields: Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Emergency Management, Public Safety Leadership, Fire Science, Nursing, Physicians Assistance, Nurse Practitioner, Medical/Emergency Physician OR you will need 3 years of occupational experience in the following fields as well as a Bachelor's Degree in any field: Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Emergency Management, Public Safety Leadership, Fire Science, Nursing, Physicians Assistance, Nurse Practitioner, Medical/Emergency Physician OR you will need Master's Degree or higher in the following fields: Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Emergency Management, Public Safety Leadership, Fire Science, Nursing, Physicians Assistance, Nurse Practitioner, Medical/Emergency Physician Desired Qualifications A.

Teaching experience at the community college level B. Current certification at Physician's Assistant or higher C. Experience teaching EMT and Paramedicine D.

Demonstrated involvement with current CAAHEP and CoAEMSP Standards & Guidelines (please list involvement on resume) E. Experience with AZDHS Emergency Medical Services & Trauma System rules and regulations as demonstrated on the resume F.
