Job Description:
The Employment Dream Coach trains, supports, and equips clients for internship opportunities at training sites by modeling tasks and appropriate worksite behaviors using various techniques such as hands-on training, goal setting, affirmations, redirection, community integration, and socialization by teaching and modeling professional communications with co-workers, managers, and supervisors. Provide one on three supervision and instruction to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities during their hands-on-training assignment for a community training center.
Essential Skills:

  • To ensure success as an Employment Dream Coach (EDC), one should have exceptional communication skills and should be able to train and teach in a clear, concise manner.
  • The EDC should be patient and should have the ability to motivate the trainees to achieve high levels of performance.
  • The EDC should be able to answer and solve each query of the trainee.
  • The EDC should be empathetic towards the trainee's needs as well as respect his/her views.
  • The EDC should be able to develop innovative ideas to meet the changing training needs.
  • The EDC should have good record keeping skills and maintain diligent records to track for progress and client observations.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provide transportation from client's home to work site and back home after their shift.
  • Adhere to transportation safety protocols when transporting the client (s).
  • Accurately record daily transportation miles on the mileage form and submit the form on the due date of each month.
  • Collaborate with other client transporters to assure safe and timely worksite drop offs and pick-ups.
  • Study the client's behavioral/employment skills report to gain insight and to develop a customized approach to further enhance the social and vocational skills that the client will need to master through their paid training modules.
  • Assist in observing and assessing the strengths and needs of clients to help improve their workforce capabilities.
  • Effectively address problems that hinder employment development soft/hard skills such as inappropriate or aggressive behavior, grooming and hygiene, attendance issues, productivity, etc.
  • Address client complaints and grievances in accordance with C.C.I. policy.
  • Assist the Program Supervisor in developing and implementing the paid training performance evaluation.
  • Interact with Dream Coaches to discuss the clients' strengths, weaknesses, and behavioral patterns, and develop strategies to provide maximum support to the client in these areas.
  • Provide daily employment summary notes utilizing the three-part question format and set monthly training goals with the client(s).
  • Maintain and have immediate access to the client file that includes emergency medical information, hands-on-training performance evaluations, and ISP objectives.
  • Set a good example by following rules and directives of community employer, displaying to clients the proper techniques, habits, and proper work ethic for community employment.
  • Maintain high level of quality standards through continual inspection of client's work as required by the individual site contract.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, while ensuring the safety of all persons assigned.

All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; experience in vocational work training or teaching is helpful.
  • Must have a valid CA Driver's License, 3 years driving experience, clear driving record, safe reliable transportation, and proof of current vehicle insurance.
  • Current CPR and First Aid training.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Environment: Work is performed indoors and outdoors with distractions; extended periods of time viewing computer monitor; possible exposure to dissatisfied individuals, in close proximity to others, and sitting for periods of time in vehicle transporting clients in your personal vehicle.
Physical: Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. by self, standing, walking, sitting, pushing, bending, pulling, squatting and working outside in the elements required; repetitive motion may be necessary.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment and a motor vehicle.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
