The essential job functions of this position require you to: communicate and build working relationships with staff, faculty and candidates from diverse backgrounds; abide by University guidelines; maintain confidentiality; prioritize and manage work effectively; provide exceptional customer service and positively represent the university; ensure work is detailed, accurate and completed in a timely manner; perform work in a sedentary/standing position for long periods of time; interact with individuals from various levels throughout the university and work successfully in a team as well as independently.

Shift:

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; additional hours may be required based on departmental needs.

Job Summary:

The Employment Consultant proactively builds strong relationships with hiring officials and departments throughout the University of Kentucky, including UK HealthCare and/or the College of Medicine. This role provides guidance to hiring officials regarding job requirements, recruitment strategies, and hiring timelines to attract desired candidates. The Employment Consultant serves as a coach through training and consultation for hiring departments.
This role provides a high-level of customer service for hiring departments, including posting job requisitions, timely communication, and approving hiring proposals / offers. The Employment Consultant partners with hiring officials through the selection process, including providing interview guides, conducting search committee orientations, facilitating effective hiring practices training, consulting through the final hiring decision-making process, as well as promoting hiring best practices within the University. The Employment Consultant will lead or participate in work-groups and projects to contribute to the continuous improvement of our department services and the hiring processes at the University.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

Successful applicants must have superior customer service focus, excellent communication skills, solid professional knowledge of hiring and selection techniques, as well as an ability to quickly gain an understanding of the business operations of distinct units of the University. The ability to successfully influence and manage relationships with hiring officials is required. Must enjoy and excel at collaboration and problem solving. Strong planning and organizational skills, the ability to effectively persuade others, and high emotional intelligence are all keys to success in this position.

Preferred Education/Experience:

Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field. Prefer several years of experience and a proven track record in hiring and selection coaching or consultation.
