The Career Development Center provides programs and services that facilitate career development and job placement among NC State University students.
The Employer Relations Coordinator is an external-facing position dedicated to supporting activities, cultivating relationships, and identifying career opportunities with corporate, nonprofit, and public sector employers, particularly those in rural settings. This encompasses a broad spectrum of opportunities, including full-time employment, cooperative education placements, and internships for both current NC State students and graduates. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Rural Outreach and Employer Relations, the Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering connections between employers and the university community.
Employer Engagement
- Conduct one-on-one engagements with employers through diverse channels, including site visits, telephone interactions, and electronic communications.
- Contribute to the marketing efforts of NC State and the Career Development Center, showcasing the university’s strengths and the valuable resources offered to potential and existing employers.
- Establish and nurture relationships with employers, both potential and existing, to facilitate the recruitment of NC State students and graduates.
- Facilitate and oversee employer visits to the campus, ensuring a smooth and productive engagement process.
- Manage mock interviews for partner colleges and employers including scheduling, training, recruitment, and feedback.
Event Management and Support
- Manage event logistics, overseeing catering, transportation, room reservations, and kiosk for various career-related events such as career fairs, externships, and other relevant activities.
- Host employers during on-campus recruitment activities, managing aspects such as recruiter check-in, room setup, and providing overall hospitality.
- Serve as a representative of the Career Development Center at both on-campus and external events, fostering connections and expanding the center’s network.
- Support the marketing, communication, and social media strategies for career fairs and related events.
Customer Service and Operations
- Provide exemplary customer service to employers, offering support for the career services management system, particularly for first-time employers.
- Collaborate with the Employer Relations team in reviewing and approving new employers, contacts, and job postings in the career management system.
- Coordinate logistics and manage employer information sessions, on-campus interviews, and campus recruiting events.
- Work with employers to create experiential learning opportunities for the OnePack Empowered Program, the Career Identity Program, and Rural Works!, aiming to provide enriching and impactful experiences for program participants.
- Contribute to the website design and maintenance of the “Employers” section of the Career Development Center website, ensuring information is current and visually appealing.
- Perform other Career Development Center duties as assigned.
- Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
- Qualified candidates will possess demonstrated effectiveness in working with university students, faculty, administrators, and employers.
- Good organizational skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.
- Possess a working knowledge of contemporary practices in Employer Relations, demonstrating an understanding of evolving trends and strategies in the field.
- Proficiency in Career Services Management (CSM) software, such as: Symplicity, Handshake, or GradLeader.
- A minimum of two years’ experience working in Career Development Communications or similar field.
- Familiarity with website design (WordPress) and social media management.
