Job Title: Employee Relations Specialist
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Director of Human Resources
Compensation Range: 65,000
TRS Classification: Non-classified
Summary:
The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of all Epic Charter School's Employee Relations efforts.This position requires an exceptionally detailed and perceptive person who is capable of interfacing with individuals at all levels within the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Actively participate in the success of Epic Charter School
  • Work with HR leadership to address concerns and complaints from all stakeholders
  • Researches and explains laws and legal affairs concerning employment to managers, supervisors, and employees
  • Assists management with performance concerns, disciplinary action and conflict management issues
  • Adhere to laws, policies, procedures and ethical standards of Epic Charter School
  • Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior management
  • Participates in quality assurance activities
  • Assist with day to day operations of the HR functions and duties
  • Creates and maintains detailed records of Employee Relations investigations
  • Ensure systems re?ect up-to-date compliance-related information
  • Audit employee ?les for compliance-related documents
  • Coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys, etc)
  • Assist with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations
  • Assist with recruitment and interviews for administrative employees as needed
  • Collaborates with legal counsel and departments in the preparation for and participation in negotiation with employee and labor groups
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in human resource management or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proven experience (3 - 5 years) in Employee Relations or in a relevant HR role
  • HR Experience in an education setting is preferred.

Quali?cations
  • Familiarity with a remote and online working environment is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of labor laws required.

  • Ability to maintain professional con?dentiality and comply with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal communications, ?nancial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees or members of the business community. Ability to communicate e?ectively with new employees and coworkers, both verbally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills
Basic math skills required
Reasoning Ability
Ability to de?ne problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer pro?ciency in Windows, Microsoft O?ce and Google Tools with the ability to manage multiple computer screens.
Knowledge of web conferencing/meeting tools. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.
Certi?cates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current driver's license and valid car insurance
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certi?cation or ability to obtain certi?cation within 12 months required
  • SHRM Workplace Investigations Specialty Credential preferred

Other Quali?cations
  • Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional o?er of employment is made
  • Must have favorable employment references
