Job Description
The centralized HR Advisory Services (HRAS) team at U.S. Bank is hiring an Employee Relations Manager to support Consumer and Branch Banking business. In this role, you are responsible for developing, implementing, and driving HR advisory strategies and recommendations aligned with current and future needs of the lines of business they support. Employee Relations Manager is responsible for enabling our overall talent strategy by leading a team of advisors that focuses on empowering our people leaders with knowledge and capabilities, while advising and supporting our employees through their day-to-day journey, ensuring their voice is heard. They will be focused on supporting all people leaders and employees by activating our U.S. Bank culture and Core Values through policies and procedures' interpretation, performance management, and administration of investigative support. They will also be charged with identifying employee and manager trends and themes across the business line they support and partnering with key stakeholders on recommended solutions that mitigate employee and labor relations risk for the organization while providing insights to key partners.
Duties in this role include:

  • Provide guidance to ER advisors on escalated employee performance or disciplinary issues, investigations, and other Employee Relations matters. Leverage and utilize data and analytics to identify emerging trends at both a macro and micro level; partner closely with Legal and/or Employee Relations (internal escalation group) to provide a complete picture of overall employee and manager issues to Sr. Talent Consultants (HRBPs).
  • Collaborate with key leaders and stakeholders across the organization (Talent Consultants, Other HR functions, Employee Relations, Legal, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Ethics, Fraud Investigations, etc.) with a continuous improvement mindset, sharing opportunities to better support the employee experience, including professional development, talent management, inclusive practices, etc.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of advisory services by developing success criteria for operational practices around response and resolution of provided support and service.
  • Provide guidance and support on escalated cases and advise on recommendations and actions, effectively addressing difficult situations with executive savvy. Take decisive and well-rounded action in high-pressure situations, consulting with key stakeholders where appropriate.
  • Support consistent policy interpretation and application of HR policies. Partners with Employee Relations on potential policy violations; provide recommendation on policy updates to increase understanding and to reduce exceptions.
  • Review escalated employee complaints or investigations, provide necessary coaching and complete manager follow up as appropriate; determine if escalation is appropriate to Employee Relations, legal or other stakeholders.
  • Provide coaching and training to advisors via side-by-side coaching and development opportunities.

Location: This role will be hybrid in the posted cities. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at a U.S. Bank location, while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Ten plus years of Employee Relations, investigations, HR, or business-elated experience

Preferred skills/experience
  • More than four years of managerial experience preferred
  • JD, advanced degree, or specialized training in labor/Employee Relations preferred
  • Expertise in handling or advising on complex Employee Relations and/or investigative, compliance, ethics, and regulatory related issues
  • Demonstrates understanding in federal/state/local labor and employment laws, Employee Relations concepts, U.S. Bank policies and practices, and substantial experience in applying those principles to complex workplace issues
  • Strong analytical skills and related ability to identify and interpret data and create/recommend solutions
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and leadership, including Managing Committee
  • Must possess keen business judgment and credibility to support appropriate workplace changes considering investigative results and trend analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and judgment while working collaboratively with a variety of teams
  • Ability to lead and influence a team to deliver strong results while developing employees through day-to-day interactions

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $125,715.00 - $147,900.00 - $162,690.00
