Your Responsibilities


As Employee Relations Manager for John Deere located in Kernersville, NC, you will:


  • Manage all Employee Relations operations in support of all operations in Kernersville
  • Execute and champion employee facing principles, policies and events that yield positive Employee Relations throughout the organization
  • Manage safety, environmental programs and culture through activities, actions and advocacy which ensures safe work practices, minimizes injuries and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Manage pay structure, career progression, employee training/certification and incentive plan for production and maintenance employees
  • Oversee the effective execution of salary performance management
  • Manage recruiting, placement and onboarding efforts for salary and production employees in sufficient volume and with appropriate skills to staff an effective manufacturing environment
  • Champion the development and delivery of employee development activities
  • Ensure consistent and seamless contact with global Labor Relations in regard to policy, processes, tools, service standards and applicable laws
  • Oversee staffing agency relationship for temporary workforce integrated into the population for extended periods of time
  • Be responsible for one or more Joint Ventures (JV) including the transition of JV employees (wage and salary) to John Deere, including all aspects of pay, benefits, and the implementation of new programs/work rules
  • Report to the General Manager, serve as a senior leader for the organization while maintaining appropriate contacts in the community
  • Lead a staff of professionals in support of duties listed

What Skills You Need


  • 4 or more years of experience administering company policy and pay plans
  • 4 or more years of experience in the Labor Relations field, including exposure to major processes such as training and development, health and safety, employee communication, etc.
  • 4 or more years of experience in the Human Resources field, including principles and procedures in such areas as employee/labor relations, staffing and employee development, training and development, safety and health, employee communications and legal and corporate compliance
  • Knowledge of Employee Relations issues in regard to production employees including both organized and union- free sites
  • Understanding of compensation programs and benefit plans for salary production and maintenance employees
  • Ability to negotiate independently to help both the organization and individuals by obtaining consensus between two or more parties who may have different interests
  • Knowledge and/or skills to develop and implement policies, plan, organize and execute steps to achieve higher efficiencies, while providing guidance and training to others

  • Master's Degree in Business/Management, Engineering/Technology and/or Human Resources discipline
