POSITION SUMMARY
The Employee Health RN establishes, manages, and evaluates comprehensive health services by providing Employee Health nursing services to Ardent Health employees in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and policies/protocols under the direction of department leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Reviews and investigates accidents, injuries, exposures to hazards and communicable diseases, and blood borne pathogens.
  • Provides follow-up treatment of work acquired infections in accordance with Infection Control guidelines.
  • Participates in risk management by identifying, monitoring, and following-up on employee incidents. Assesses need for further treatment, work restrictions, or prophylaxis.
  • Assesses, evaluates, and treats work related injuries, first aid, and illnesses within the nursing practice.
  • Conducts health assessments to determine appropriate treatment and coordinate care with other disciplines in a timely manner.
  • Provides employees with education on personal health and safety. Informs employees of test results and instructs employees on health care, or refers them to appropriate health professionals.
  • Conducts pre-employment health screenings, return to work, and health surveillance evaluation.
  • Maintains and updates health records on all employees and prepares departmental records and reports. Files test results, incident report, records immunizations, and counseling given in health records.
  • Reviews incident/injury reports and acts appropriately with our worker's compensation vendor and employee to ensure appropriate care.
  • Conducts and manages pre-employment immunizations/vaccinations
  • Conducts and manages pre-employment, random, and reasonable drug screening.
  • Provides referrals for non-Employee Health concerns.
  • Posts all communications to ensure compliance including worker's compensation and OSHA.
  • Responsible for OSHA reporting and logging (including form 300 and 301).
  • Reviews employee absenteeism statistics.
  • Complies with regulatory requirements, guidelines, and policies of the hospital.
  • Coordinates and manages LOAs and FMLAs. Receives communications from LOA Administrator. Works with Human Resources to ensure employees are returning to work with proper clearance.
  • Identifies problems or services which could be improved, recommends actions, revises forms/procedures, and communicates to department leadership. Performs or collects data on specific monitoring activities.
  • Interacts with customers and healthcare professionals at all levels.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team including Insurance Claims Adjusters, Physicians, Managers, and Directors.

Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
  • Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse licensed to practice in applicable state
  • Basic Life Support Certification

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Employee Health experience
  • 1+ years' experience in direct, acute patient care
  • Positive, customer-focused interpersonal skills

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other systems
  • Well versed in HIPAA laws
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize, and delegate requests
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapidly changing situations
  • Ability to deal with employees and physicians in stressful situations
