Physical Requirements:This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds; standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; working at heights above four feet; and exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; loud noises; temperature extremes; and blood-borne/airborne pathogens; intermittently requires working in confined spaces; and occasionally requires job-related travel (less than 10% of time), exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, recombinant DNA or viral vectors, and combative/violent people.
Shift:Must be able to work 12-hour evening and night shifts; including weekends and holidays, per departmental needs.
Job Summary:Primary duties are obtaining reliable information and coordinating air and ground transports. This position serves as an Emergency Communications Technician for the UK HealthCare Enterprise taking emergency medical reports, air traffic control operations, and plays an important role in trauma, stroke, and cardiac cath lab activations. Along with those duties, this position also serves as an EMT for the adult and neonatal/pediatric transport teams traveling through Kentucky and surrounding states to pick up ill or injured patients. Secondary duties include helipad safety operations, escorting EMS crews to various units within the hospital, offloading aircraft, and public relation events.
Basic medical terminology and computer skills.

Preferred Education/Experience:Two years of related experience highly preferred; experience in air traffic control operations and within a large healthcare organization preferred.
