Lead the Bureau of Public Health Preparedness (BPHP) External Plans and Operations Section (EPOS) with direct supervision of assigned employees.
Lead Emergency Support Function 8 (ESF-8, Health, and Medical) as the senior agency representative to the SERT; engage, leverage, and expand other state agencies and nongovernmental organizations in planning for and responding to emergency events; to include: chairing the SC Emergency Association (SCEMA) Public Health Caucus.
Ensure synchronization of internally and externally published plans and inclusion of agency deputy and program areas.
Ensure all grant requirements are met, and provide inputs or reports as required for federal submissions.
Other duties may include, but not limited to, public health preparedness support such as activities outlined in the DHEC Emergency plans during hazardous weather or declaration of an emergency.
State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.Agency Additional Requirements:

Experience in emergency planning and operations for health and medical services, public health and environmental operations, and multiagency leadership and coordination at the state level.
Plans experience, and versed in FEMA Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101
Ability to evaluate drills to identify needed improvements.
Able to work well with others to include executive level persons internal and external to DHEC.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred, and the ability to work effectively and efficiently under limited supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
