Champaign-Urbana Public Health District
Emergency Preparedness Planner and CommunicableDisease Investigator
The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is an Emergency Preparedness Planner and CommunicableDisease Investigator for a full-time (40-hour week).
Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinates bioterrorism/public health Emergency Preparedness planning for the district
  • Develops public health Emergency Preparedness plans for the district that are fully integrated with other local government plans within the district's jurisdiction
  • Develops and implements simulation exercises to ensure the effectiveness of the emergency plans and systems
  • Collaborates with the Illinois Department of Public Health, regional staff, district administrative personnel and other health departments developing policies and plans in response to a public health emergency.
  • Coordinates and facilitates meetings with district personnel and terrorism task force partners
  • Assist in the coordination of CUPHD and community efforts for preparedness planning and system development activities for response to public health all-hazard emergencies.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • On-call rotation will be required for this position after completion of training period
  • Assist in controlling the spread of Communicable Diseases through the identification, tracking and notification of potential exposures and by reporting to the appropriate agencies
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Emergency Preparedness, planning, management, biological sciences, community health, nursing or closely related field.
  • Also requires two (2) years of professional work in a related area; however, lesser experience may be considered.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of emergency response preparedness and planning; knowledge of government operations and state laws related to Communicable Disease control

The starting annual salary for this position is $55,036 for a 40-hour week.
